It's hard to explain how much I love the city of Melbourne. From the variety of shopping destinations to the chance to chase my roots with countless traditional Cantonese restaurants and cafés, there's no wonder that it's my favourite Australian capital city. Here is part one of the photo diary- my original plan to have just one photo diary proved invalid when it turned out that there were 100+ photos I wanted to share... In this part are shots from the CBD, Yarra Valley wineries, Box Hill restaurants, new Yarra Valley chocolaterie and ice creamery, Olinda Tea House, Cafes at Doncaster, and the Happy Lab.

Some of the places were re-visits, while others were new discoveries. Like the chocolaterie, Olinda Tea House and Happy Lab- all brought welcome surprises and new experiences. Monga was one of the most special, with renovations dedicated to vintage Hong Kong culture, such as the bird cages (which I didn't get a picture of), mail boxes, and lunar calendar (which was creatively used as a menu instead). Many traditional Cantonese dishes and snacks were on the menu, including fried durian pieces with durian ice cream (!!!), and a red bean ice drink with soy milk and sesame ice cream (basically all of my favourite things in one glass)!
