rockhampton on film

While moving house a few months ago I rediscovered a few disposable cameras from about 2 years ago that were expired/expiring, and this gave me an excuse to capture our trip up to Rockhampton this past Christmas & New Years almost solely on film. It was the first time we'd driven up to Rockhampton with the purpose of actually visiting and exploring the little town, as opposed to usually just passing through on our way to and from Cairns.

Many people were confused when we told them we were spending Christmas in Rockhampton, wondering what the town had to offer apart from great steak. In addition to devouring the juiciest stone grill, we had one of the best days at the Great Keppel Islands, snorkelling, kayaking, cruising into sunset, and trying parrilla grill. A measly waterproof disposable camera from Kmart really doesn't do it justice... Throughout the week we also wandered through the botanic gardens and weekend markets in the city, hiked some easy walking tracks, explored the little beach town of Yeppoon, and dug for gemstones and thundereggs at Mt Hay.
