thailand photo diary

My first trip to Thailand also brought many other 'firsts': first jet skiing experience, first motion sickness experience from a theme park ride, first time seeing giraffes in person, first time feeding giraffes, first time seeing sunflowers in person, first elephant ride, first floating market shopping, first Thai massage, and, of course, first time using Baht!

We went with a tour this time and stayed mainly in Pattaya and Bangkok. Although Bangkok is the city and is all wonderful and everything, I actually found myself enjoying the time spent in Pattaya more. There, we went jet skiing, swimming at the beach, swimming in the hotel's pretty pool (with the poolside bar), drinking fresh coconut water, and just relaxing. Bangkok was still fun, though, with the best Japanese buffet I've ever had, hat hoarding at the many night markets, admiring the pretty ukeleles also at the night markets, and many air-conditioned shopping centres which you no longer take for granted in the 40 degree heat. And between both cities were visits to Dream World (where I mused over the fact that we live so close to the Dream World here but rarely go...) and Safari World, pretty sunsets, common snack brand names in Thai, colourful tour buses, even more colourful taxis, mouth-watering foods in convenience stores, and my favourite- buffet breakfasts every morning.
