granite belt adventures

7.30am start, and a misty three hour drive later, we were at Granite Belt. After a scrumptious lunch at The Barrel Room Cafe, where we tasted yummy homemade pasta and the most perfectly cooked salmon on squid ink linguini, we made the trip up to the Pyramid at Girraween National Park. We'd hiked the track twice before, but never actually made it to the very top of the Pyramid, so this time, we were determined. With a few rest stops in between the huge slopes, we finally made it! And the view from the top was 100% worth the exhausting effort. Needless to say, many victory dances were danced and songs were sung.

After the hike, we made our way over to the biennial Apple and Grape Harvest Festival, where I finally tried a potato slinky! (I'd been craving them since first seeing them at Cheung Chau last year...) The most amusing thing about the whole trip, though, was that we'd originally just wanted to participate in the festival and buy some local apples, but at the end of the day, we left without even seeing a single apple...
